The next morning the birds were cheerfully singing in the branches, the Dragon was sleeping and the Princess...? Was up... and making breakfast?
Good morning, Writer.
Whatâs this? What are you doing up? Itâs nine in the morning. For you itâs the crack of dawn!
Today is a special day. I am going to meet The Richest Man in the World. I got up really early and went to the river to bathe.
How did you get food? How did you light the fire?
Well Writer, when you trust life, you can make miracles happen.
The smell of the food that the Princess was cooking (on a perfectly made fire by the way) woke the Dragon up.
Good morning! I slept like a baby... Whatâs that smell?
I made breakfast... are you hungry?
Yes, all of that soup has been digested and Iâm hungry again.
They both ate and sooner rather later they were on their way again.
They walked for about an hour and suddenly, between the trees, they could see smoke coming from a little chimney. When they reached the house that belonged to the chimney, they found that it was a very humble hut, made of hay and wood; there was a man reading a book sitting in a rocking chair on the porch. The Princess walked over to him.
Good morning.
Good morning -- said the man, looking over his book. He was a thin man... his skin a light shade of pink, his hair and beard were white, but he didnât seem like an old man. He was wearing funny looking glasses and dark blue overalls over a white t-shirt and he was barefoot. -- Who are you?
Iâm Princess Odai, this is my dragon, and the man who just described you is the Writer.
Nice to meet you -- said the man. -- Can I help you with something?
Yes, Iâm looking for The Richest Man in the World. Do you know where I can find him?
And why are you looking for him? -- asked the man.
Hmm... Iâm not sure why.
If you want to ask him for money -- said the man, frowning -- forget it, he wonât give it to you.
No, I donât want to ask him for money.
Although we could use some.
You wonât get a penny out of him! -- said the man as he went back to reading.
No, I donât want to ask him for money.
Then why are you looking for him?
I was told to look for him.
Who told you? -- asked the man suspiciously.
Well... Bonsai said that...
Bonsai? -- he interrupted. -- Bonsai sent you to look for The Richest Man in the World?
Yes, he told me to...
Shhhh! -- the man hushed her. He thought for a moment and then muttered to himself -- Then you should already be ready.
Ready? For what?
To receive your wealth -- said the man in a natural manner.
Wealth? Are we wealthy?
What wealth are you talking about, Mr..... whatâs your name?
Time -- said the man as he put down his book and got up from his chair. -- Those who know me call me Time.
